Greetings! . . . I'm a new member . . .

Greetings!

My name is Kathy Gilbeaux, and I recently joined the club. I’m a retired banker, and do volunteer work for our church (Faith United Methodist Church in Orange). I live in Little Cypress, and found out about the BCC through the newspaper article in The Orange Leader. When I was 9 years old, I asked for a camera for my birthday . . . and I have owned and operated some kind of camera ever since. I currently have a Canon XTI, a Kodak DC3400, and recently took some fun shots with a disposable waterproof camera at the Schlitterbahn. During the last 9 years, I’ve done many photography projects for family and friends (prom, engagement, wedding, and recital portraits) . . . however, I have a real desire to work with stock photography. I’ve already done a lot of the leg work to get started. I built my own website (gilbopics.com), and have everything functioning in order to sell . . . I’m now working on selecting the appropriate images for the website. With all of the construction on IH10, it may be a while before I try to attend any of the evening meetings, but in the meantime I hope to stay in touch through the forum and by email. Great intro Kathy!! Looking forward to some tips on selling stock images! (Our members make the best presenters. Hint, Hint!)

I have thoroughly enjoyed using P&S cameras in a water case at Schlitterbahn...especially the videos going through the water rides.

Hi Drew,

Thanks for the intro compliment! Although I've had (pretty much) a lifelong passion for photography, I think (as of right now) I probably know a little more about computers than I do about cameras . . . LOL . . . I have much to learn in both areas, as I am mostly self-taught. Even though I already have everything on the website configured to sell, I still haven't started selling yet . . . and I need to do alot more work in the marketing department before I can begin. I could just take a short-cut and pay someone else to do all of that, but I enjoy the challenge and am learning alot in the process. It's all (more or less) a long term goal, and I am a patient person . . . I'm just enjoying the journey.
