Does anybody have any recommendations for what pen/tablet to buy to work in photoshop instead of using a mouse??

Hello.

I would start with a basic Bamboo tablet. They are inexpensive from Best Buy or online. It is good quality and you can find out real quick if you would like to upgrade to a larger version.

I have bough several for the classroom including a large 12"x12" (very nice)...and am planning on buying with school funds one for at least every other computer. The students who have artistic skills really like the tablets. Others do not because they do have a learning curve...and if you are not real inclined to using a paintbrush, then it is harder to use at first.

Once I have more of them in the classroom, I expect more students to grow into them as they will be sitting right there instead have to check one of the three tablets I have available.

Thank you! I got a Bamboo...def a learning curve! Not as easy as I thought it would be. I have to take more time to play with it.

Actually, I have just learned of THE cat's meow of graphic tablets:

Check out the video.

I learned about this from researching storyboard generations for videos. Can't imagine who powerful of a Photoshop tool this would be...or really anything. I am looking forward to the next generation of computers that the iPad will inspire.
